Wisdom

We'd laugh and we'd dance, we cavailed and spat

Fought until daybreak 'bout who could say what

Turned to each other with only a smile

Lock stepped together 'cause that was our style

shared all our heartaches our joy and our pains

somehow at the end it just wasn't the same

I never found how to surrender my soul

While she wanted more, she wanted my all

Now all these years later, more chastened than wise

I see that youth put the light in my eyes

what gladly I then called the love of my life

turned out to be only the light of my love
