Saturday

Damp fallow autumn day

Deep golden yellow leaves

Rocked gently on swaying branches

Swishing in the misty stirring

Embrace our rain today

Sucked thirstily from grey skies

How soon the glory fades away.

A disconnected leaf falls, dies

Blown, raked then bagged

Discarded with the garbage.

Dried wrinkled and ragged

One remains between two pages
