PHOENIX

 

So now my golden bird is dead

Have I its offspring, new laid egg?

Can this be my phoenix,

is it possible or true

love’s daughter lives

and if it does, do I still care?

Perhaps I want an eagle now

Or pelican of gliding grace.

Not beautiful

but practical and free.
