2019
Had a visit to hospital this year, and that plus getting better took up quite a bit of time.....but it did leave me with plenty of time to think about stuff.....and there was a lot of that (stuff, I mean) going around, what with Mr. Trump, his supporters and detractors, Brexit, and such like.
A Thought
The student's trust is won not simply by words but also by actions, by the kind of person the teacher is -- in short, by integrity, true of students and teachers of all ages. So do we want -- should we want -- teachers or college professors to be quite so dogmatic?
This truth is also behind the significance of behaviour of Bishops, for example, or any other church leader by any other name. Are they primarily holy men or just another kind of administrator? Anything less than holy men will result in growing lack of trust and credibility on the part of clergy, who should be our representatives not our masters.
The Way
The sun may not always shine on the path, it may not always be straight or clear, but it always leads those on The Way towards home. We are citizens of another city who belong amid the spires and towers of the New Jerusalem which we see only from afar and remember as though in a dream. Our true home is not of this world so it is natural that we feel ill at ease surrounded as we are in this city where we are aliens and migrants, with Abraham as father and Jesus our brother Our father was a wandering Aramean so we seek the city from which we are exiles, until one day He will come and take us to our home, our true home.
So be brave, stay committed, remember our true home and our pilgrimage, our journey we are on, knowing this is only temporary. Stay alert, live quiet lives, live peacefully with all. Do not put down roots, or gossip, stay apart from politics and fights around us as aliens and strangers in an alien land.
