Dubious Theology

 

Have I broken some eternal rule today

That makes God turn His face away

And will He never smile on me again,

Does only fearful punishment remain?

 

I have been told that it is so

And warned by folk who ought to know

“Immediately amend your errant ways

If you would see those endless days”

 

I wonder why they took the time to tell

And let me know not all is well

When nothing else they say pertains
